STS adds innovative systems management features to PayOp

Introduction of role based access and permission rights

London, 20 November 2018 STS, the payments acceptance software specialist, today announces the release of new features for PayOp, its smart operational management system that allows merchants and payment service providers to run mixed estates of payment terminals from multiple manufacturers. New functionality gives merchants and payment service providers the tools they need to manage users’ capabilities straightforwardly within complex estates and organisational structures.

“The management of payment systems has become increasingly complex and operational tasks are increasingly being outsourced.” says Steve Turner, CEO of STS Payments. “Terminal and systems management is often shared between the merchant, their payment gateway and specialist service logistics partner. It is critical that only the right people can make changes and access management information.”

PayOp now supports a new concept of groups, which could represent organisational structures like merchants, business units or even individual stores. Each group contains devices, firmware, payment applications and software packages. Users are able to view and work with only those devices etc. in specific groups. This enables a single instance of PayOp to support multiple merchants, gateways and terminal manufacturers without requiring complex rules to prevent unauthorised access.

New role based access rights allow users to be assigned permissions to fulfil specific tasks within a group and restrict them from undertaking others. The concept of roles has been introduced to simplify the management of user permissions and under strict control to delegate these powers to other users. When responsibilities for task management change, user rights can be quickly updated collectively by editing only the role’s permissions.

Steve Turner continues, “This new functionality has been introduced based on user feedback. It simplifies payments systems management, increases control, prevents fraud, brings operations efficiencies and reduces costs.”   

The recently released PayOp Agent extends the applicability of PayOp to organisations that do not currently use the STS G8 payment application.
