STS Payments (STS) has joined forces with new partner Glory Global Solutions, a global leader in cash technology solutions, to enable “cash in perpetual motion” at NRF Retail’s BIG Show 2017, taking place in New York City next week from 15th to 17th January. NRF attendees should visit Booth #3863 where STS and Glory will be demonstrating G8 integrated to Glory’s CI-10 point of sale cash recycling solution.

This partnership enables POS integrators to support both plastic card and cash transactions through a single technical integration for all types of payments tender. No longer will multiple POS integrations be required, saving money and time. All that will be needed now is one quick integration to G8 – STS’ fast and secure payments acceptance application.

STS can confirm that cashback functionality has also been added to the joint solution meaning that when a payment card supporting this feature is presented, after G8 has asked if the customer wishes to receive cashback, G8 will instruct the CI-10 device to automatically dispense the required amount of cash.

Optimizing the retail cash chain through in-store recycling accelerates cash processes, enables provisional credit and reduces shrinkage. The cost of cash-in-transit pickups also provides members of staff with the time to focus on delivering the best possible customer experience.

The solution automation also means that it is suitable for use in semi-attended environments such as at in-store self-service kiosks. And when coupled with STS’ payments operations suite, PayOp, the advanced reporting capabilities means that cash can be centrally reconciled and reported on meaning one less task for busy store managers to complete.

How it works:

Once the POS starts a transaction, G8 will begin both a card transaction on the payment terminal and a cash transaction with the CI-10. If the customer inserts a card into a PIN entry device (PED), G8 will recognise the insertion and process the transaction as a normal card payment. G8 will also offer cashback at this stage, if supported by the card, and instruct the CI-10 to dispense cash as required. Alternatively, if cash is inserted into the CI-10 device initially then G8 will accept it and cancel the card transaction accordingly. In both cases G8 will provide the POS with receipt data and confirmation that payment has been taken.

Howard Buck, Development Leader at STS, says “This is a first for STS, as up until now we have focused on card payments acceptance and so to be able to announce that G8 can also accept and dispense cash is a triumph. Not only does this integration provide many benefits to merchants and POS integrators, but it also provides quicker check-out times for customers and assures accuracy of change or cashback.”

Howard continues, “We are very excited to be showcasing this at NRF this year, and invite anyone attending to come to the Glory booth (#3863) where the team will be happy to demonstrate the transaction process, answer questions and talk through any requirements that visitors may have.”
